Tower Bridge, City of London Wedding
In 33 degree heat, an Indian summer arrived in September last year for Olivia & Sam’s wedding in four fantastic City of London locations. I started my coverage with preparations at the elegant Ned in the heart of the city, before heading to one of London’s hidden architectural gems, the Church of the English Martyrs in Prescott Street where we were treated to the calming ritual of a traditional catholic wedding ceremony within those ancient cooling walls. Afterwards guests strolled through the streets of the city towards the reception while I accompanied Olivia and Sam in a white Rolls Royce to the eighteenth century old Dickens’ Inn by Tower Bridge. Upon arrival, the newly-weds were greeted with a rousing reception by their family and friends waiting high up on the top balcony tier with it’s fabulous views of the Tower and the river Thames, and an equally enthusiastic throng of London publicans below.
At sunset, we took a short stroll to Tower Bridge for some portraits as the sun finally evaporated behind that famous London landmark. Emotions as ever and hilarity rode high during the speeches in which Sam was ribbed at every turn by his two best man younger brothers, before the the whole wedding party was avidly urged to join the dance floor after the briefest though sweetest of shy couple first dances.
An absolutely fantastic day in a city I love capturing this London summer wedding, and a wonderful relaxed couple who trusted me to do my thing while they got on with savouring every single moment against the backdrop of London at its most buzzing and atmospheric high summer best.
